Last February, Steve Jobs’s Seiko quartz watch from the iconic Macintosh photo (above) sold for an astounding $42,500. Anyone in the know was just waiting for the other two watches from his estate to come up for auction – and now here they are a Baume & Mercier and another Seiko.
Both watches are from the early 1980s and worn regularly by the beloved Apple leader and figurehead. Famed for his parred back 80s style, Steve Jobs’s choice of watches was every bit as timeless and simple as his iconic roll neck. The two new Apple founder’s timepieces include an 18K gold Baume & Mercier wristwatch with a brown lizard skin band and a black Seiko which was supposedly a favorite of Jobs (and near identical to the one that sold previously). Although neither of these watches is of any horological or historical importance themselves – this sale is about more than that – it’s about actually being able to own a piece of Steve Jobs – including his vision and taste, as well as watches from a time that was very meaningful to Steve Jobs and his career.
